Emergency backup goaltender Scott Foster sends thank you message to Blackhawks fans

Another thank you message has surfaced from the Blackhawks. But this time, it’s not from a regular player.

Scott Foster, a financial accountant at Golub Capital, expressed his gratitude to Blackhawks fans and the organization on the team’s Twitter account Tuesday morning.

Foster had a meteoric rise to fame after he became the emergency backup goalie for the Blackhawks on March 29 against the Winnipeg Jets.

The Blackhawks signed Foster to an amateur tryout contract the day before. He had gone 15 games as the emergency goaltender prior to the March 29 game, but never dressed in uniform.

This dream became a reality for Foster, due the injuries to Corey Crawford, Anton Forsberg, and Collin Delia. Delia was actually called up March 29 but got injured during the game.

Foster made seven saves in 14 minutes in his NHL debut, becoming the first emergency backup goaltender to record a save.

His previous goaltending experience was at Western Michigan University and the Western Ontario Hockey League.

It was a great moment to say the least for Foster, who was also featured at this past weekend’s Blackhawks convention.
