The Bears were the team most strongly linked to free agent running back Kareem Hunt, who is still facing a suspension because of a video showing him committing alleged domestic violence.
The Cleveland Browns stepped into the spotlight and took a chance on Hunt, signing him Monday afternoon.
Bears fans and analysts on Twitter were pretty well split between being thankful the team didn’t sign the running back and wishing they had.

Missing out on Kareem Hunt is a set back for the Bears. Cheap, All Pro Talent, at a position of need.
But not the end of the world. Shifts the draft priorities a little.
Bears fans should feel relieved the Browns signed Kareem Hunt. This was headache they didn’t need and potential embarrassment they had no reason to invite. Let feel-good story continue at Halas Hall without that kind of compromise. Bears can find decent equivalent in the draft.

One thing that stands out to me is that all 3 teams who had interest in signing Kareem Hunt (#Browns, Bears, Chiefs) have people on board who know him best and we’re willing to give him a 2nd chance. They also must think the incident was an outlier of who he is.
